The R.I.S.S.A. Living the Dream Foundation was established to honor the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Marissa Dion Draper—a fun loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend whose every breath was a testament to resilience and selfless service. Though her life was suddenly cut short by an asthma-induced heart attack, Marissa lived each day with a passion for giving, a commitment to uplifting others, and a spirit that radiated love, compassion, and a smile that endures beyond her time.
Inspired by Marissa Dion Draper’s life and legacy, the Foundation is devoted to serving families with children living with asthma. Our mission is to elevate asthma awareness, promote health and wellness, and spark a movement of families who are Living Their Dream Now—walking in resilience and selfless service every single day.
The Foundation’s name—Resilient In Selfless Service Always (R.I.S.S.A.)—reflects the very values Marissa embodied. Our purpose is to carry her light forward by advancing public awareness about asthma and empowering individuals to live courageously, serve generously, and dream boldly. Living the Dream was not a future aspiration for Marissa; it was her daily practice. And it is now ours.
A Legacy of Giving
In honor of Marissa’s legacy, the Foundation will deliver meaningful and lasting support to families with children who have asthma by offering:
- A Resilient Moment that includes a home, room, or yard makeover tailored to the needs of the family.
- A Selflessness Gift: Distribution of R.I.S.S.A. LTD (Living the Dream) Packages—designed to support the health and wellness of families and raise broader asthma awareness.
- An act of Service: With each makeover, the Foundation will ensure the supported family shares 10 R.I.S.S.A. LTD Packages with other families facing asthma, thereby creating a ripple effect of empowerment and awareness across 20 families per initiative.
R.I.S.S.A. LTD Packages will include:
- Propeller Health Sensor: This digital tool attaches to standard inhalers and tracks medication usage, sending real-time data to a smartphone app. This enables users and their healthcare providers to monitor medication adherence and identify potential asthma triggers—making self-management on the go more informed and effective.
- Portable Nebulizers: Compact, lightweight, and battery-powered devices—such as the Omron Micro-Air NE-U100—allow individuals to administer liquid medication in mist form quickly and efficiently, wherever they are.
- Smart Inhalers and Sensors: Tools like CapMedic and Hailie attach to existing inhalers to track doses, send usage reminders, and offer real-time feedback on inhalation technique. These features can improve treatment consistency and enhance overall asthma management.
- Digital Spirometers: These portable devices measure lung function, including peak flow rate, helping individuals monitor their respiratory health on the go. Data from these devices can be shared with healthcare providers to support timely and informed treatment adjustments.
