Meet Terrance Stone
Funding Secured Through NRDC-IE: $7 Million
Focus: Reentry Support, Youth Services, Workforce Development

Terrance Stone doesn’t just lead Young Visionaries — he embodies it. As someone who has walked the path of adversity and emerged with purpose, Terrance has turned his personal story into a platform for systemic change. Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy was born out of a commitment to make sure young people — especially those at risk of involvement with the justice system — have real alternatives, real guidance, and real opportunities.
For years, Young Visionaries was making a powerful impact across San Bernardino County through programs in reentry support, housing, conflict resolution, mental health, and workforce training. Terrance wasn’t new to this. But like many community-based leaders, what he lacked was consistent access to the type of funding that matches the scale of his ambition and the urgency of the need.
Enter NRDC-IE.
Since partnering with NRDC-IE, Terrance has secured approximately $7 million in grant funding. These aren’t inflated numbers — they’re a reflection of what happens when a high-impact organization is paired with a strategic partner that knows how to position them for success. With NRDC-IE’s support, Terrance leveraged funding opportunities from BSCC and others, becoming one of the few leaders in the region consistently awarded high-level state grants — including being listed as a recognized provider on the California BSCC website for his "RED" Program.
“Grants are one of those things where we as people of color get so little,” Terrance said. “It’s a blessing to now have it put in the door and open it for others.”
Through that door, Terrance has built a legacy of programs that uplift, equip, and empower. From forklift and warehouse logistics training to leadership development for youth to life skills for returning citizens, Young Visionaries has grown into a multi-pronged community powerhouse. And NRDC-IE has stood behind that growth every step of the way.
Our role was never to change Terrance’s vision — only to help fund it. Using our e3p3 model, we worked side by side to identify aligned opportunities, write high-scoring proposals, and craft program models that could scale without compromising quality. We also facilitated partnerships, helped develop performance tracking strategies, and supported implementation to ensure long-term sustainability.
Today, Young Visionaries isn’t just a community program — it’s a movement. And Terrance Stone is a force behind it.
At NRDC-IE, we are proud to partner with visionaries like Terrance, who have the courage to lead and the credibility to deliver. With the right funding, his work is creating ripple effects that extend far beyond grant cycles. He’s changing systems, transforming lives, and — as always — bringing others with him.
That’s what we’re here for.
